About the Utopia Film Festival
Greenbelt was one of America’s first planned communities, a New Deal city built by the Roosevelt administration in the 1930s. The Utopia Film Festival takes its name from the idealistic origins of Greenbelt, described by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt as “the first garden community in the land planned for the uplift and unfolding of the human spirit.”
